Dina Hany is an artist / filmmaker based between Egypt and Australia. Her films act as constellations. One point unfolds to reveal an entire cosmology of signs where image, information and the infinite interact.
Using documentary, poetic realism and speculative fiction, her work explores the notion of home, hybridity and its futurisms. Dina’s practice revolves around the seeking out of third spaces where culture has no fixity. Through that space she implores the desire to belong and to migrate, and the costs involved in both choices.
Originally from Cairo, she graduated from both the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) and Goldsmiths University, London. Currently, she is in the production phase of her first feature, Blue Lotus.
